Contact
Email contact@rentalguard.ai. Say which phone you use and, if it is about a specific inspection, the date it was taken — that is enough for us to find it on our side. Privacy questions and data requests go to privacy@rentalguard.ai; to remove your account and everything in it, see Delete your account.
Getting started
Before you drive. Open the app at the vehicle, start an inspection and photograph it zone by zone as the guide asks — front, sides, rear, wheels, dashboard, seat. Mark any existing scratch, dent or chip on the photo. Finish, and the report is sealed with the time it was taken.
When you return it. Start a return inspection and the app walks you through the same zones so the two sets of photos line up.
Sharing. Every finished report has a link and a PDF. Send either to the rental desk; the link opens a page that shows the report has not been altered since it was sealed.
Frequently asked
Does it work without internet? Yes. Photographing and marking damage happens on your phone. The report syncs to our servers when you are back online; until then it is stored on the device.
What does "sealed" mean? Each photo is hashed on the phone and again on our server when it arrives, with the server's own timestamp. If a byte changes later, the hashes stop matching. That is what we mean by tamper-evident: not that a photo cannot be altered, but that an alteration would show.
Is a report legally binding? No document is on its own. A report is evidence of the vehicle's condition at a moment in time. Whether it settles a dispute depends on the rental company and, if it comes to that, the law where you rented. In practice, a time-stamped set of photos taken before you drove is what most disputes turn on.
What is free and what is paid? Scanning is free and unlimited, and the photos stay on your phone either way. Unlocking a rental gives you the sealed, shareable report for that inspection. The yearly pass covers every rental for a year. Prices are on the pricing page.
Does the yearly pass renew? Yes, automatically, once a year, until you cancel. You cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings, not in the app, and you keep access until the end of the paid year. Apple handles the billing and any refund request.
Cars, scooters, motorbikes? All three. The zone guide adapts to the vehicle type you pick.
Where are my photos stored? On your phone, and — for unlocked reports — on our servers in the European Union. Only you can see them unless you share a report link yourself. The privacy policy has the full list of who hosts what.
Can a rental company see my inspections? Only the ones you send them, and only through the link or PDF you choose to share.
Android? In development. Leave your email on the home page and we will write when the closed beta opens.
Something is wrong with the app. Write to contact@rentalguard.ai with what you expected and what happened instead; a screenshot helps. Your inspections are safe on the device while we sort it out.
For rental companies
The fleet dashboard is in a closed pilot. Request one from the business page and we will set up your workspace and walk you through it.
